About the role
Our client is looking for an intern who will be immersed in increasing levels of responsibility regards the design, construction, maintenance, and protection of the electrical distribution system; this will include hands-on opportunities to learn theories on overhead and underground systems, overcurrent protection, line capacitor installation, and other power quality and electrical service initiatives. The intern will split time between fieldwork and computer applications.
Roles and Responsibilities
Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or suggests improved methods.
Gathers, correlates, and analyzes specific data using established procedures.
Performs detailed and/or routine engineering assignments involving established calculations, tests, and analysis.
Performs a variety of routine tasks that will improve the individual's familiarization with the engineering methods, practices, and programs of the Company.
Supports operating and maintenance functions with engineering analysis, troubleshooting, problem identification, and problem resolution activities.
Assists Senior Engineers and/or Engineers I, II, and III with large projects, as needed.
Assists with the development of station/engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.
Plans and controls all activities to provide an accident-free workplace.
Conducts work activities about environmental rules and regulations.
Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Performs other duties as directed by management.

Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to:
Apply knowledge from the field of study for tasks within the assigned business unit.
Gain hands-on and technical knowledge and experience by working on projects and assignments.
Work collaboratively with assigned team members and cross-functional groups to actively learn and train on assigned tasks.
Education/ Certification/Years of Experience Requirements:
Must be currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program at the bachelor's or higher level at an accredited college or university.
The specific field of degree and year of study will vary depending on the requirements of the business unit where the intern will train.
